The Riveras

We are Assemblies of God World Missionaries with

Latin America Theological Seminary

“Facultad deTeologia”

Our ministry teaches Master’s level courses in teaching centers in 8 countries: Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, and Guatemala, involving students from 19 Spanish-speaking countries.  We serve more than 600 national leaders.

We are motivated by God’s call upon our lives and by the desire to see as many saved as possible.  As we train leaders, the church is built up to accomplish God’s mission to the lost.  We also would like to see revival throughout Latin America and the Caribbean that would bring in a new harvest of souls.

We currently travel to each of the teaching centers as part of a roving faculty, providing training to build up the Church by building leaders. We’ve been with “Facultad” from 2005 to the present.

Prior Field Experiences

Spain from 2000 to 2002:  We were professors at the Assemblies of God Bible School in La Carlota; we also taught in local churches.  Max also taught classes with the Superior Evangelical Theological Seminary (SETS).  Max filled the positions of Academic Dean for the Bible School; chairman of the regional Evangelism Committee; member of the national Christian Education Committee.  2002 to 2003: Max worked as a translator for Global University, lent from the Europe Region for one year, to work on urgent requests.

Other Ministry Experiences

Max has been a pastor since 1976, with churches in El Salvador and California.  He was also a translator for World Vision for four years. Together we were promoters of world missions for COMHINA (Cooperative for Hispanic Missions in North America) among independent Hispanic churches in the northwest; we also were educators and bridgebuilders for the Alliance of Hispanic Churches in Seattle, WA.  Sylvia also was a Missionettes Sponsor for an A/G church in Tacoma and has taught Vacation Bible School in various settings.
